Viral become easier in this era. But being viral often associated with bad things. The question is, is that statement correct? Let’s break it down.

We live in era which digital can quickly deliver anything. Any statement, opinion, content, creation, shitposting, can fall into someone’s glasses quickly. BUT not every hand can understand what the true meaning behind someone’s statement or creation or any kind that goes viral. Sometimes what we delivered does not match the intent we had. We know that misunderstanding is also a part of communication. BUT misunderstanding have an impact, either it’s positive or negative. So, we need to make sure something viral is also appropriate. In line with what we intend.

“I want this content goes viral” “make this ad viral”

These sentence is often heard at a meeting, content strategy meeting. Because, every brand dreams of having a millions of people see their content, their ad.

Viral also can be a part of marketing strategic. Known as ‘viral marketing’. Marketing is one of the most effective ways to attract and get customers. And, viral is a way we could reach millions of eyes easily. So, yes, with a viral marketing every dream of a brand will be achieved.

Going viral in line with the goals is quite difficult. It takes a long process to make it, need research, and not a one-time process. In this time, we knew there was something viral, and every brand use the same way. “Surat Keberatan” from one of the biggest local brand, Eiger, which is intended for one of the Youtubers. It goes viral because based on the opinion of some entrepreneurs, this is a fatal mistake. It can cause that brand lose their customer.

And from there, almost all brands make the same things but with the opposite content. There is “Surat Tidak Keberatan”, “Surat Tugas”, “Surat Himbauan”, and so on. Unfortunately, the content as opposed to eiger is the same content as all brands. Everything looks the same. There is no significant difference. Instead of increasing engagement rate, it feels useless. Because there is no innovation. At the end, no one read it, the content becomes spam.

But, there is one brand that make it different. Preppstudio. They publish similar things but with different content. They also give a prizes. And everyone appreciate what Preppstudio did. That’s why, what Preppstudio did, doesn’t feel useless. They make it different with others, They make it different with Eiger.

So in conclusion, going viral isn’t always bad things. It can actually bring benefits. It’s also useful for marketing.

YES, make sure that something you’re going to make is valuable and genuine. Then if become viral it’s bring positivity and benefits, cheers!

Stay healthy and happy, Peeps!
